Jr Hat Tricks Claim Season’s First Win in New Jersey

Middletown, NJ- The Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks traveled to face the New Jersey Titans on Wednesday afternoon for their first road trip of the season and were rewarded for their efforts with a 2-1 win in Middletown, the first of the 2022-23 season.

The first and second period saw no scoring and the first saw little shot action. New Jersey out-shot Danbury 6-5 for the first twenty minutes of the game. The Titans cranked up the offense in the second period, outshooting the Hat Tricks 16-5. Danbury goaltender Ryan Maguire (’02) stopped all 16 shots in the stanza and kept the game goal-less heading into the third.

New Jersey capitalized on their offensive momentum to start the third period and scored the game’s first goal 2:20 into the final frame of regulation. Nick Trabb did the honors for his first goal of the season and second point in three games. From there, the Hat Tricks wrestled back the offensive momentum, outshooting the Titans 8-7 for the final frame. Less than five minutes after the Titans’ goal, Oleg Egorov (’04) tipped a Denis Radchenko (’03) shot into the net for his first goal of the season. At the 14 minute mark, Radchenko blasted a shot home for his first goal as a Hat Trick and ultimately the game winner. New Jersey pushed for the equalizer with the goalie pulled, but Maguire stopped every Titan attempt on net and secured the 2-1 win for Danbury.

Belarusian native Radchenko scored two points, including the game-winning goal in his first game on North American ice. Russian native Egorov scored his first goal in his first game of the season. Antonio Felidi (’05) and Robert Martufi (’03) both recorded assists as well. Both players have two points in their first two games of the two game old season.

Jacob Gray and Jordan Campo recorded the two assists on Trabb’s goal. It was the first point of the season for both players.

Ryan Maguire stopped 28 of 29 shots faced. Titan goalie Jake Agoglia stopped 16 of 18 shots.
