Attleboro, MA- The Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks opened up the season with a high-scoring 6-4 defeat at the hands of the Northeast Generals. On Friday night, the Hat Tricks made their first road trip to the Generals and dropped a bitterly contested game 1-0.
The game’s lone goal came late in the first period when Matthew Nuzzolilo scored at the 14:17 mark of the frame. Both goaltenders, Ryan Maguire (’02) and Ian Kangas did not allow for any more goals for the rest of the day, taking the starring spots on the ice. Kangas never allowed the equalizer and got the win, improving the Generals to a 6-0 record.
The other defining piece of the game was a parade of penalties. The teams combined for 18 penalties and 45 penalty minutes.
Danbury drops to 1-2 on the young season. The Hat Tricks return to the Danbury Ice Arena on Sunday to face the New Jersey Titans, whom they faced on Wednesday for their first win of the season. Puck drops at 7 PM in Hat City.
