Danbury Tops Titans In Middletown

Middletown, NJ- The Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks concluded their September slate of games with a much-needed victory over the New Jersey Titans by a final score of 2-1.

The game did not start promisingly. The Titans outshot the Hat Tricks 18-8 in the opening 20 minutes and the game’s first score. Payton Fobes scored his second goal in two games against Danbury. Ryan Maguire (’02) stopped 17 of the 18 shots he faced and helped kill off a late Titans power play to keep the score at 1-0 at intermission.

Danbury turned to the combination of Antonio Felidi (’05) and Roman Winicki (’03) to provide the scoring touch in the second period. Felidi scored the first goal at the 12:27, his first of the season and tied the game. Winicki recorded an assist on the goal. About three minutes later, Winicki jumped on a turned over puck and deked out the Titans defense to score what would be the game-winning goal.

New Jersey outshot Danbury in the third period 12-8 but could not figure out Ryan Maguire. The Ridgefield, CT, native stopped all 12 shots and 36 of the 37 shots he faced in the Hat Tricks to secure the second win of Danbury’s season.

Felidi’s point total increases to 4 points in 5 games this season. Winicki scores his first multi-point game of the season and third across 15 games as a Hat Trick player.

Danbury doesn’t play again until October 14th and 16th, when they travel to play the Norwich Sea Captains and Northeast Generals respectively. Puck drops at 12PM against Norwich and at 1PM against Northeast. The Hat Tricks’ next home game is October 23rd, when the Norwich Sea Captains pay a visit to the Danbury Ice Arena. Puck drops at 7PM.
