Danbury, CT- The Jr. Hat Tricks finished the weekend with a 4-3 loss to the New Jersey Titans, who emerge from the evening with their first victory of the season. New Jersey landed the first three scores of the night. Payton Fobes and Ryan Talorico landed the first two goals respectively on unassisted scores at the 3 minute and 4:33 marks of the frame. George Hinds completed the opening period Titan barrage at the 7:02 mark. The Jr. Hat Tricks found an offensive response late in the frame. Lou Caulfield (’04) wired home his first goal as a Hat Trick with 57 seconds left in the frame. Roman Winicki (’03) and Antonio Felidi (’05) assisted on Caulfield’s goal.
The Hat Tricks got one more score back in the second period. Brody Trew (’03) drove the puck up the wing and fired a shot off Titan goalie Liam Kelly and Oleg Egorov (’04) scored his second goal of the season on the rebound.
New Jersey got a goal back early in the third period. Ryan Talorico scored his second goal of the game and got his third point of the night, having assisted on Hinds’ goal in the first period. The Jr. Hat Tricks cut the score back down to a one goal deficit. Bethel, CT, native Brody Trew scored his first goal as a Hat Trick with Denis Radchenko (’03) and Reese Tamburo (’03) getting the assists on the power play tally. Danbury pushed for one more, pulling goaltender Gennaro DeMaio (’03) for the extra attacker but failed to equalize the score.
New Jersey gets their first win of the season while Danbury falls to 1-3.
Gennaro DeMaio stopped 29 of 33 shots in his season debut. Liam Kelly stopped 26 of 29 shots on his net.
The Hat Tricks and Titans meet up again on Wednesday afternoon, September 28th at the Middletown Ice World Arena. Danbury won the first game between these teams at Middletown on September 21st. Puck drops at 12:30 PM for what will be the final game of the month for the NA3HL Edition of the Hat Tricks.
